I am a doctoral student in machine learning, under the supervision of Prof. Tommi Jaakkola at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at the Massachussets Institute of Technology (MIT), with a minor in business at the Sloan School of Management . I have obtained my B.Sc. in computer science and mathematics from the University of Toronto. Prior to that, I have graduated from high-school in Romania, during which time I represented Romania at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1995 and 1996, year in which Romania ranked first.

Research Interests

Machine learning (learning with partially labeled data, information regularization, EM), bioinformatics (motif discovery, functional genomics), natural language processing (language models, dialog systems)
