Pool Tournament
Rules
- 8-ball game; world standardized rules
- non-obvious shots must be called (flukes don't count)
- to be considered a legal shot, the shooter
must hit one of his/her group of balls and either
pocket a ball or cause one of the balls to contact a
rail
- on foul shots, the opposing player get cue ball in hand
(i.e. he/she may put the cue ball anywhere on the table)
- when the 8-ball is the legal object ball, it may be
pocketed in any pocket (the shot must still be called)
- fouling or scratching when shooting the 8-ball is not the
loss of game, unless the 8-ball is pocketed or jumped off the
table
Tournament System
- single elimination tournament system
- at most 16 people will get to play (FCFS)
- brackets are created on the spot
- the final will be played best of 5 games, whereas all other rounds
will be best of 3
- to speed things up, all rounds except the semi-finals and the final
will be played with only 7 balls (3 solids, 3 stripes, and the
8-ball)
Scoring
- 2 points for showing up
- 2 points for wearing the team t-shirt
- 5 points for participating (playing at least 1 game)
- 3 points for every trick shot (trick shots include pocketing a ball
by shooting a bank, kick, combination, carom, jump, or masse shot)
- 40 points for winning
- 30 points for 2nd place
- 20 points for losing in a semi-final
