CSAIL Olympics 2013
Table Tennis Tournament
Rules
- a match is played best out of g games
- for each game, first player to win p points wins
that game; however, a game must be won by at least a two point
margin
- each player serves exactly two points in a row; however, if
the score is p-1 all, each server serves only one point
and then the server is switched
- players switch side of the table after each game
- legal serve: we won't care too much about properly holding
and tossing the ball
- values of the g and p variables depend on the current
tournament round (see Tournament System below).
- everything else should be pretty much "standard"
Tournament System
- single-elimination tournament
- at most 16 people will get to play, 4 from each team (FCFS)
- brackets depend on the order of arrival of players
- number of games per match (g) and
number of points per game (p) for each
tournament round is defined as follows:
final: | g = 5 , | p = 11 |
semis: | g = 5 , | p = 7 |
other: | g = 3 , | p = 5 |

- 2 points for wearing the team t-shirt
