Here are my slides and the sonnet I read at the SIGGRAPH 2002 Fast Forward session. Each speaker had 52 seconds and 2 slides to convince people to come to their talk later that week. Many speakers were creative and humorous! Hopefully they'll do it again next year.

Procedural Volumetric Modeling

Detailed geometry's difficult to create
Surface meshes don't capture the structure inside
Volumes built procedurally, that would be great!
More flexibility, our language will provide

Layers of material comprise most objects
We'll use levelsets for their fast generation
Varying materials, even if complex
For larger models we'll use simplification

Fracture, erosion, and biological growth
Simulation's a tool in our modeling kit
Interactive or scripted, our system does both
Direct changes are made with a simple edit

In our presentation, weathered gargoyles will lurk
So tomorrow at noon, come and see our new work!

I apologize for the bad poetry; Ray Jones gave me the idea.
Anyway, MIT isn't a liberal arts school.
