Floating Point Multiplication
Floating point multiplication is easy!
- Just add exponents using an integer adder
- Multiply significands using integer multiplier
- Sign bit computed as XOR of input sign bits
0.510 = 1.000 x 2-1 -0.437510 = -1.110 x 2-2
Add exponents -1 + (-2) to get -3
Multiply 1.000 and 1.110 to get 1.110
Product is -1.110 x 2-3 , already normalized
