This trail is a workout. We ascend steeply and relentlessly from the
Lafayette Campground up to the Kinsman Ridge. The trail passes Cliff House -- a natural rock shelter --
and ascends a ladder. It then passes along a cliff edge with three
fine outlooks over Lonesome Lake. Lunch at the peak of Cannon
Mountain is a fine reward for the heavy climbing. Bring a jacket,
(and perhaps hat and gloves) because it's very windy!
We then come back down over the ridge to Lonesome Lake for a quick
rest and to dip heads in the cool water, before returning to the lot.
I have stolen heavily from the White
Mountain Guide for this summary.
