Take the Lonesome Lake trail from Lafayette Campground steeply up to the lake, and rest awhile enjoying a cool mountain swim. The Lonesome Lake trail continues west of the lake with a beautiful stretch of level path (or rather, boards), and rises sharply over some steep scrambles to the Kinsman Ridge Trail just to the right of the last cannonball. From here it's straight up to Cannon Mountain and back down to the visitor center at Echo Lake.
