Research Statement

Current Research

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Computer graphics group of CSAIL at MIT, advised by Fredo Durand. My research investigates novel interfaces to facilitate effective interaction with audiovisual media for authoring, collaboration and consumption. To design compelling tools, I explore ways to 1) harness and rearranging spatio-temporal structure, 2) maximize the synergy between different modalities, and 3) maximize the synergy between automatic algorithms and direct user manipulation. In my Ph.D. research, I explore these approaches in three specific domains: blackboard-style lecture videos, speech recordings and slide presentations.

Other Work

My master's thesis, co-advised by Fredo Durand and John Ochsendorf from MIT Building Technology, investigated computational methods to analyze forces inside 3D structures. Prior to joining MIT, I received my B.S.E from Princeton University. At Princeton, I worked with Thomas Funkhouser, Szymon Rusinkiewicz and a team of archaeologists from Akrotiri, Greece on developing tools to help reassemble broken frescoes.
