Kids/Parents IFD planning

The Most Important Thing

Guided by the result of the survey, we will resume dancing next Wednesday, 11/5, from 6-8 PM on an every-other-week schedule.

The exact structure of the evenings depends on who can come when. So if you haven't filled out the survey on what time you can attend on Wednesdays, please do so that I can plan a suitable schedule.

To stay updated on our plans you can use the mailing list (jcdsifd@googlegroups.com)) or the facebook group (kpifd).

The Longer Story

Thanks to all who filled out the general survey. If you haven't yet, your input is still valuable. I got 23 responses comprising over 40 potential dancers—plenty to support a nice active session. To start with the easy consensus bits: There were also many interesting suggestions I am trying to incorporate.

The big challenge is getting everyone there at the same time. I posted a time survey. Many people failed to fill out the time survey so my information is incomplete—if you have not filled it out it, please do so now. If you have filled it out, you can take a look at the results in the same place.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the only block of time with even a small majority is wednesday evenings. And in that block, there's a split between people who would like the session to start earlier (so kids can come straight from school and get home to bed) and those who would like to start later (so kids can come after after-school programs, or get dinner before coming). Despite our large numbers, we might not be able to get critical mass at any specific time.

That said, availability begins at 6 and winds down at 8. It's slightly higher starting 630, but that may make the evening too short for some early departures. I'm happy to run the full 6-8 time period, assuming we have dancers. I can adjust exactly what I teach and when to the specific attendance patterns; e.g. I can teach beginner stuff later and advanced stuff earlier if that's what attendance patterns determine. (I could, theoretically, alternate early and late weeks, but this seems too complicated.)

I also welcome further discussion of the survey results and additional suggestions for how to make the session work better; you can use the mailing list (jcdsifd@googlegroups.com) or the facebook group (kpifd) or email me directly.
