SpaMM

SpaMM, for Sparse Markov Modeling, is a software for population-based reconstruction of haplotypes from genotype data. A haplotype, a contraction of the phrase "haploid genotype", is the genetic constitution of an individual chromosome and capture. Current lab techniques typically provide an unordered pair of marker. Reconstruction of haplotypes (ordered pairs) from genotype data is a crucial step in tackling many genetic questions.

SpaMM has been developed as embedded SRL/PLL software, i.e., the first versions was actually implemented using Xanthos. After the LOHMM model was fixed, an efficient, propositoinal version was implemented in Java. Please see the SpaMM homepage.
