Long term housing
If you are looking for a long-term housing in Paris, do not miss the incontournable PAP (Particulier a Particulier). It's a huge magazine published every Thursday morning containing thousands of adds (check out their website). Buy it on Thursday morning and call the people the same day. If you wait for the week-end, it will be gone... Finding housing is a sport in Paris. The toughest period is definitely september. Landlords usually ask for a proof of fund. The rule of thumb is that your rent should not be more that one third of your income.
