CSAIL Olympics 2012: Dancing without the Stars
Commisioners: David Karger, Katrina Panovich, and Adam Marcus
Date/Time: Wednesday, January 25 2:30pm-4:00pm
Location: Exercise room in the athletics center in Stata
Use those parsing, tokenizing, and design pattern skills to learn line
dances in 6 different languages! Points for participating in line dance
boot camp, more points for dancing well, and even more for dancing
badly!
David will spend about 5 minutes teaching each dance, then you'll spend
3 minutes doing it.
The worse you are at dancing, the better! Come learn from dancing
sensation David Karger - the grand master of line dancing himself! The
point breakdown for this event is as follows:
- 50 points for participation - each team will receive a fraction of 50
based on the number of participants wearing their shirt. More
participants, more points!
- 20 points for good style - judges will select the dancers that have
the best dance style at the end of the event.
- 20 points for ridiculous style - judges will select the dancers that
have the most ridiculous dance style at the end of the event. This is
where your horrible computer science genes will have a chance to express
themselves!
- 5 points for providing judges - each team must provide one judge. If
your team does not, then they will not receive their fraction of these
points
- 5 for guessing the language each song is in, or the culture it
comes from if the language is obvious.
