I used to use Checkpoint's ZoneAlarm[Free], but had many issues with it when converted to windows 7. Currently I use windows firewall with Firewall Control[Free], which does a pretty decent job
Process Explorer[Free] - Very detailed windows process info + find file handles owners and close them
Skype - I use SkypeOut for all my long distance calls. Also check out this guide for setting up a zero-cost home surveillance camera using Skype
cygwin[Free] - Unix emulator for windows. A Nice thing with cygwin is that lots of useful unix commands (e.g. grep, tail, sed, vi) are actually executable programs. It is possible to have them available at cmd simply by adding cygwin's bin directory to the system path.
Outlook 2007 conversion of flags to categories - Annoyingly (!), AFAIK there is no support in outlook 2007/2010 for flagging messages (including due date, as opposed to just flagged/unflagged) for IMAP accounts.
powercfg -energy - Power management debug report in windows 7 (maybe others) that can be used to expose potential power hogging drivers and configuration issues that could be eating away at your battery life

Scrobbling a song means that when you listen to it, the name of the song is sent to Last.fm and added to your music profile. Once you've signed up and downloaded Last.fm, you can scrobble songs you listen to on your computer or iPod automatically. Start scrobbling yourself, and see what artists you really listen to the most. Songs you listen to will also appear on your Last.fm profile page for others to see.
