Nick Harvey's Personal Page

Photography

For the past several years, I have been quite interested in photography. My favorite themes are landscapes and food. I'll show some of my favorite shots below.

Gear

My body is a Nikon D70, which is a joy to use (although a bit old by now). I have three lenses

My favorite lens is the 35mm. It is takes very sharp pictures, with great colours, and it works extremely well in low light. I rarely use the telephoto lens as it is slow and requires lots of light. I have two other important pieces of equipment: a tiny flash, and an extremely portable tripod. The flash is the Nikon SB-400, and it is invaluable for indoor photography. My tripod is a Velbon MAX i 347GB. It easily fits into a backpack for short hiking trips.

Landscape

Skyline Trail, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

Seljalandsfoss, Iceland.

Food

Freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies.

Falafels and salad with goat cheese, tuna and pine nuts.

Running

My favorite physical activity is long-distance running. In Spring 2007, Sergey and I ran the "The Great Hyannis" Johnny Kelley Half Marathon. I mainly train on the Charles River routes.
