The pots serve the plant as an interface to the robots by providing additional sensing ( humidity), actuation (turning on an infrared beacon), and storing data about the life cycle of the plant (e.g. maturity of fruits). Every pot is endowed with a wireless router (180MHz MIPS, Atheros-based 802.11b) that interfaces a humidity sensor and controls an iRobot home base that can attract the robot using infrared.
