I originally started this forum to enable readers to discuss issues raised in my online article, Attention: Overbearing Asian Parents. It has grown into a small online community where people can anonymously share experiences and tips for coping with stereotypical overbearing Asian parent behavior, like nagging, unrealistically high academic expectations, extreme parental pressure, and lack of emotional empathy.
I would like viewpoints from people of all generations and backgrounds, so parents, please chime in with your thoughts as well! I welcome disagreements and arguments, as long as they remain civil and on topic.
It's easy to start a new discussion topic (just click on a red link) and to reply to existing topics. You don't need to register or sign up for an account. Please use a consistent and unique username.
The quality of this forum depends on the quality of user contributions, so please do your part to keep your comments constructive and on topic. Please be considerate of readers who come here looking for perspective and advice, not public flame wars. However, I will not censor or delete posts unless they contain profane personal attacks, hate speech, or spam.
I post under the username pg (my initials) and use the username anonymous_email when posting anonymized snippets from emails I receive about my articles.
Email me at philip@pgbovine.net if you have any questions or suggestions.
