The ritual that you use to start up a servlet server will depend on the servlet server that you happen to use. If you happen to use a servlet server supplied by Sun Microsystems, Inc., running on a Windows computer, then you open a command window, change to the servlet server directory, and type the following:
startserver
Similarly, if you want to stop the servlet server, you open another window and type the following:
stopserver
