For Sale: Continental ExtremeWinterContact snow tires (practically new) on ASA KA3 rims - $500 (Medford)

Contact: raltshuler at gmail dot com

I'm selling a set of four Continental ExtremeWinterContact snow tires with less than 1000 miles on them. They're mounted and balanced on ASA KA3 alloy rims. These are one of the top rated studless winter tires on the market (links to reviews below).

The tires - purchased in December 2011:
2 x 215/55 R17 front
2 x 215/60 R17 rear

The rims - purchased from TireRack in December 2003:
4 x ASA KA3 17" alloy rims will fit most Nissan/Infinit, Honda/Acura, and Toyta/Lexus vehicles with 5 bolt rims, see FAQ below for more details. The wheels come with spline style lug nuts and the appropriate lug key, of course.

Tires are in like-new condition. I purchased them the last week in December 2011 and they were on the car until mid-May 2012 during which time I drove less than 1000 miles (I have odometer readings from tracking my gas mileage). They've been in my basement since then. The rims are in good condition for their age. None are dented/warped. Front right has a small curb rash (see pic). As you can see from the pictures the spokes are pretty clean, but the front wheels in particular have a build up of brake dust on the lips. I don't typically clean these very often because they are winter rims, but time permitting I will try to clean them up prior to anyone coming to purchase them.

I'm asking $500, and they can be picked up in Medford, MA. If you're not in the area but you're seriously interested let me know and we'll see what can be worked out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you selling such new tires?
Last month my G35 was totaled when I was hit by a driver who ran a red light. Have no worries, these wheels/tires were in my basement at the time. I'm selling because I'm going to need to replace my G with something that's more family-friendly and it's too hard to predict if these will fit whatever I get.

Will they fit my car?

Why are the front and rear tires different sizes?
The factory tires on the 2003-2006 G35 Coupe fit 18 inch rims and are staggered sizes with the rear tires slightly wider and larger than the front (225/45 front, 245/45 rear). I originally chose to get 17 inch rims and tires for my snow tires because they are less expensive and there is a better selection of snow tires available to fit 17 inch rims than for 18 inch rims. These snow tires are slightly narrower than the factory tires, which is better for snow, and the diameters were chosen to closely match the factory tires.

Does it matter if the diameters match - why not get four tires that are the same diameter as each other?
In general it doesn't make much difference as long as they're close to the right size. I didn't have any expectation that I would sell these when I bought them and it was possible to get them to closely match the staggered diameters of the factory tires, so I did. If your car is a 2003-2006 G/Z then this is ideal. If your car is something other than a 2003-2006 G/Z and you want to know more about this you can email me.
