Stand your ground; don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here. -Captain Parker

Whoever looks upon them as an irregular mob will find himself much mistaken, they have men amongst them who know very well what they are about. -Lord Percy

Sutler Information Page

This page has been created to give sutlers information about participating in the Battle Road event in April of 2000. Xxx Xxxxx, of Sullivan Press, is coordinating the sutlers. If you have any questions, please email Xxx Xxxxx.

March 8 - 2000 - Sutler applications are closed.

Please do not send in any license applications to the state!!!

Through the efforts of Xxx Xxxxx and others, it appears that we will not be encumbered with licensing and bonding problems. Sutlers who want to attend the event must notify me by March 1. This is a no-extension, no-exception, drop-dead date!

At that time a list of vendors will be assembled by the Township of Lexington and Hawker/Peddler licenses will be requested by the township. Do not under any circumstances contact the state directly for a license application. Only those sutlers on the March 1 list will be allowed to sell at the event. I can't say enough about the efforts of Xxx Xxxxx, Xxx Xxxxx, and others in helping us for this event.

  • Hawker/Peddler's License - $62 fee.
  • Valid Massachusetts Sales Tax Collection Permit.

Limitations

  1. No food including penny candy may be sold in the Sutlers/Merchant area. There is an inspection needed from the Board of Health for anyone selling ANY food.  so no food.
  2. Everyone must be set up on Friday Morning.
  3. We do not want cars in and out of the sutlers/merchants area. All day on Saturday and Sunday morning the camps will be closed to cars.

Location

The sutler area is on a baseball field next to the Colonial and Regulars camp. The camp is 200 hundred yards from one of the battle fields that we will be using and is about 1/2 mile from Lexington center. The Battle Road Committee will provide the normal wood, water, straw, and toilets for the sutlers/merchants.
