Drills and Practices
Regular drills the second full weekend of every month, starting
with 12/14/02, from 10 am to 12 noon, location TBD.
Militia drills: With Lexington Training Band
2/23/02, 3/2/02 - meet at St. Brigids in full kit. Thursday,
June 13, '64 drill, Wayside Inn, 7pm, in full kit. Thursday,
Oct 3, '64 drill, time and place TBD.
French drill: March 9, St. Brigid's, 9:30 am
(dress is modern, bring musket, hat, bayonet, cartridge box).
Thursday, May 23, 7pm, at Bill's. Thursday,
Aug 22, time and place TBD. Thursday, Sept
19, time and place TBD. Drill and gaiter workparty,
Wednesday, Aug 21, 7-9 p.m. at Steven's.

Editor's Note: An explanation of the page title:
While the [French] expeditionary force was in Newport in November and
December 1780, Rochambeau had a newspaper printed for his soldiers, the
«Gazette Françoise».
Documented by a French scholar -- Marc Martin -- in a work entitled
«Les origines de la presse millitaire en France», this was
apparently the first instance of a newspaper directed at the common soldier
(soldat) and predates the next instance by 12 years!
