Drills every second Saturday
at the Stow Town Hall, in the mornings, exact time TBD. (Nov. 22, Northborough VFW, 10am. Dec. 13, Stow Town Hall, 10am-noon. Coming next year: Jan. 10, Stow Town Hall, 10:30 - 12:30. Jan. 31, workparty at Steven's at 7. Feb. 7, Stow Town Hall, 10:30 - 12:30, followed by workparty at Bill's, followed by party at Steven's at 7.)
Work Parties every first and third Wednesday
evening, exact time and location TBD. (Dec 17, 7pm, at Steven's.)
Jan 11 85e French Drill (10:30-12:30) - Stow Town Hall, no musicians
Feb 8 85e French Drill (10-12) - Stow Town Hall, including musicians (annual meeting to occur immediately afterwards)
Mar 8 85e French Drill (10-12) - Stow Town Hall
Apr 5 4th Militia Drill (10-12) - Wayside Inn. (Required for men-at-arms and musicians fielding with 4th Middlesex at Battle Road.) (If bad weather, at Stow Town Hall, 10:30-12:30.)
Apr 17 4th Militia Drill (7:30pm) - Bemis Hall in Lincoln, MA. Last chance to attend a militia drill before Battle Road, which is required for men-at-arms and musicians fielding with 4th Middlesex at Battle Road. ("Bemis Hall is very conveniently located in Lincoln Center next to the Library and across from the stone church on Bedford Road. It is a large brick building. We will be on the second floor.")
Aug 13 4th Militia Drill (7-8:30pm) - Wayside Inn. '64 drill. Full kit if possible, or at least musket, cartridge box, and hat. Please try to attend at least two out of three drills of Aug 13, 16, and 27.

Mar 16 85e Evacuation Day Parade (South Boston). Assemble in the Gillette Parking lot at TBA (probably 11:00). Directions.
Mar 22 4th Buckman Tavern Muster. (Required for men-at-arms and musicians fielding with 4th Middlesex at Battle Road.) Cancelled due to muddy field conditions.
Apr 19 4th Battle Road. Assemble at Minute Man Voc Tech at 6:15 am.
May 3 85e Fife & Drum Muster: Lexington Green
May 10 85e MMNHP French Army Demonstration Day at MMNHP Visitor's Center.
May 27 85e Memorial Day Parades:
Somerville (Sunday) cancelled.
Andover (Monday morning). Assemble at 8:45 for a 9:30 step-off. Dress is French, white gaiters, full canteens. Directions.
Medford (Monday afternoon). Shuttle bus at 12:15. 1 pm step-off. Dress is French, white gaiters, full canteens. Directions.

Aug 30-31 4th Battle for Rhode Island—225th (Labor Day weekend).
Sep 1 85e Marlboro Parade & Reg't Birthday Party—note not cancelled. Directions. Note party at Steven's house this year.
Sep 27 85e/4th Sudbury Faire & Muster of Fyfes and Drums

Editor's Note: An explanation of the page title:

While the [French] expeditionary force was in Newport in November and December 1780, Rochambeau had a newspaper printed for his soldiers, the «Gazette Françoise».

Documented by a French scholar -- Marc Martin -- in a work entitled «Les origines de la presse millitaire en France», this was apparently the first instance of a newspaper directed at the common soldier (soldat) and predates the next instance by 12 years!
