Captain Reuben Dow's Coy, Prescott's Battalion
invites all local re-enactors
to join us at an afternoon drill
Saturday, March 6
Chelmsford Garrison House
1-4 pm
Dress: appropriate for New England in 1775
Snow date: March 13
Call (978) 256-8832
This is an open invitation to all militia, musicians and distaff. You
are welcome to drill with us (our drill is Pickering's) or to join with
others in your own units to work on your drills for Battle Road. For those
not drilling, there is plenty of space for crafts or other projects or you
can join us cooking over an open hearth. Garrison House itself is a
wonderful place to explore: a museum complex consisting of a 300 year old
farm house, a barn, a 200 year old blacksmith shop, and other outbuildings.
The house changed little over the years, providing a rare example of where
and how people lived centuries ago.
Dow's Coy, Prescott's Battalion is a volunteer group associated with
Minuteman National Historic Park with members from many local re-enactment
groups. Members of the original company marched to Cambridge as the
Hollis, NH Militia Company following the Lexington Alarm where they
re-enlisted in a new company under Captain Dow which was incorporated into
Prescott's Massachusetts Regiment and served throughout the Siege of
Boston.
