In this example I show a tetrahedral mesh created from the bunny model, cut-through to show the two layers of material. I selected a high-resolution initial grid to capture the details in the original surface. The interior isosurface between the materials is also represented with high detail.
Unfortunately, the initial mesh created with this method has many tetrahedra, and specifically the excessive sampling on the interior of these relatively thick layers is unnecessary. In the bottom left I show statistics on the quality of the tetrahedral elements in the mesh. The quality of a tetrahedron ranges from 1 (perfect shape) to 0 (terrible shape) and will be defined shortly. |
