David Liben-Nowell
[but just call me DLN]

At last, a(n updated) web page for DLN ...
Listen to "'David Liben-Nowell' rhymes with 'ribbon towel' and 'scream and howl'" as synthesized by the Bell Labs text-to-speech system! My name is David Liben-Nowell (rhymes with "ribbon towel" and "scream 'n howl"), and I'm currently a fourth-year PhD student at MIT. I'm studying theoretical computer science (specifically algorithms) in the Laboratory for Computer Science. One imagines that I'll graduate eventually.
Before coming to MIT, I spent a year at Cambridge University, in Churchill College. There I studied Computer Speech and Language Processing for a year with the kind assistance of the Winston Churchill Foundation.
I am a proud member of the Class of 1999 of Cornell University, in Ithaca, NY. I majored in Computer Science and Philosophy. Let's go red!
There were riots in my home town in 1998! I'm originally from State College, PA, home of Penn State University, recently voted the #1 party school in the country. My public school experience was of really high quality, except possibly when Paul Schneider stuffed a rotten banana into my locker (7th grade) and when Scott Witmer put gum in my hair during a fire drill (8th grade).
If for some reason you actually want to find out more about me, you may feel free to do so:
