By T: We live a few minutes walk from the Newton Center station on the Green Line, D Branch (to Riverside, in the outbound direction). Map here. Walk up the little hill to the street from the train, and you'll be on Union Street. Turn left and you'll come to Beacon Street in about 100m; follow round to the left, and in another 25m you'll be at a large junction with Center Street. Continue along Beacon Street, crossing Center Street, for about 300m, and turn right on Lake Avenue, down a steep hill. Turn left at the bottom (about 50m later) onto Pleasant Street. Our house is 200m down on the left.
From the Mass pike:
Turn off at Exit 127 (Newton/Watertown). If you're coming from the west, come up the ramp, and turn right onto Center Street at the lights, about 100 yards from the stop sign and the top of the ramp. If you're coming from the east, you'll need to do a loop: at the top of the ramp, continue straight, through two sets of lights and drive past the Sheraton hotel on your left; then, when the road splits, follow the tight curve round to the left. Get into the right hand lane, and turn right onto Center Street at the lights just after you've turned round 180 degrees and facing back in the direction of Boston.
Go about 2 miles down Center Street until you reach Newton Center. You'll pass the Carroll School for the Blind on your left, BC Law School on your right, and a bunch of lights, and eventually you'll reach Commonwealth Ave: you'll see a sports shop on the left across the junction. Continue on; you'll pass a large church up on a hill on your right, and then Newton Center Park, after a few hundred yards, where the road climbs. Immediately after the park, turn right onto Tyler Terrace. Watch the speed bumps! Continue to the end, where it meets Pleasant Street. Turn right, and our house is about 50 yards on the left: a beige house with a driveway on the left and a large covered porch.
If you miss the turning and reach Newton Center, then just take a right turn at Beacon Street at the traffic lights (Starbucks on your right hand side), then take the second right onto Lake Avenue, and turn left at the bottom of the small hill onto Pleasant Street. Our house is about 100 yards on the left.
