Spades 1.2
(revised)

by
Eric Brittain

Hello fellow Spades Fans!!!  After a long break from writing games for Java, I decided to come back and revise the code for Java Spades 1.2 to make it up-to-date with today's popular browsers.  If you are unable to use this new version, you can still play the old version by clicking this link.  The old version has been left as it was for many years just for you.

For those of you who are ready to use the new version, read on.  The revised version of Spades works very similar to the old version.  You click to select a card and bid using a dialog box.  No new features have been added.  Please try this version out and let me know if it works for you.  I have spent a fews days rewriting this game so I hope it works for you.

Introduction

General Play for Spades

Traditionally, spades is played with four players (two on each team). Team members jointly bid on the number of tricks (or "books") they can win. Once the bid is in, the game begins.

General Play for Spades 1.2

Spades 1.2 is slightly different. There are four players but each person bids and plays individually. Generally, all other rules apply.

How To Play

Once the game loads, you will be asked for a bid. Bids are between 2 and 9 (You must bid atleast 2). After bidding, the game begins. (Special Note: Spades is played clockwise!!) Your computer opponents will play their cards automatically. You select your cards by hitting the left mouse button over the card you want. (Special Note: if you try to play a card that is not legal, Spades 1.2 will do nothing).
