Reading Response 4

Read "Confessions of a Used Programming Language Salesman", Meijer 2007. This paper is full of interesting stories of PL colliding with the real world. As you read, consider the following questions:

• What is the "change function," and what does Meijer think it means for programming language design?
• What does Meijer think about the value of static typing? When is it useful, and when should it be avoided? What pitfalls can a type system designer fall into?
