The movie below shows a molecular mechanism, where Mm-cpn, a barrel-like chaperone, binds an unfolded protein and helps it to fold to its native conformation.

The movie was created by integrating three types of experimentally-obtained data:

• atomic structure of a single protein from x-ray crystallography
• density maps of entire complex in closed and open conformations, from cryo-electron microscopy
• order of binding and unbinding events from biochemical experiments
