Where do you put .lib files?

I'm trying to link a couple of .lib files into a Dylan program using FD and
I can't figure out where to put them so that the linker can find them.

I added the .lib files to the project, so it's aware of them. I tried the
obvious place - the \lib directory under the project, but that didn't work.

It's probably intuitively obvious where to place them, but I'm having some
kind of mental block here.
