Hello all,
This is a reminder that a course on Dylan begins next week at the
Northern Virginia Community College. As a student, you will receive a
CD-ROM of Functional Developer 2.0 with all the library packs. You
must bring /Dylan Programming/ by Fernberg, et al (which you may
purchase at discount from
http://www.functionalobjects.com/products/books.phtml).
The course is 5 sessions of 4 hours each over a 5 week period. The
theme is functional object-oriented programming presented using
homework, in-class labs, and lecture. See
http://www.nv.cc.va.us/annandale/continuing/comp/spring-
misc.html#newooprog for more information and call 703.323.3053 to
register (tell Martha you read the newsgroup post from Doug Auclair).
Object-oriented programming solved some major difficulties not
addressed by structured/procedural programming. But now the industry
is beginning to recognize a need for functional programming to solve
difficulties not addressed by traditional (single-dispatch/imperative)
object-oriented languages. This Dylan course will arm you with skills
to identify and a powerful, integrated tool (Functional Developer trial
edition) to meet this new need in industry.

Instructor, NVCC
