The cross sections for inelastic acceleration, slowing down, and capture are calculated for the isomer 180mHf in the energy range of the incoming neutron from 1 keV to 5 MeV. Below 0.7 MeV the energy transferred to the neutron in the collision is positive on the average, i.e., the isomer is acting as a "neutron accelerator".
