art descriptionHouse of Style randomly selects and presents fashion suggestions from an array of styles. In its normal environment, House of Style is placed in a window and operates during the day, drawing energy from sunlight. Courtesy of Chase Gallery, Boston.
art proposalHouse of Style was built in mid-2004 and has only been exhibited once. It is a small, solar powered sculpture. It operates continuously, and starts a new presentation every 3-4 minutes. House of Style suits the theme of "chance" in that it makes a random fashion suggestion for the viewer's consideration.
art placardAt intervals of approximately two minutes, House of Style will randomly select and present a fashion suggestion from an array of styles. In its normal environment, House of Style is placed in a window and operates during the day, drawing energy from sunlight. If you are disatisfied with the current style on display, please feel free to return in a few minutes.

art maintenanceHouse of Style would run continuously during gallery hours. I would be available for any maintenance, should it be necessary.
art autoSmall track light mounted on wall must be turned on each morning.
art soundHouse of Style makes no sound, except once every 3-4 minutes it House of Style makes a barely audible series of mechanical clicks and whirrs every few minutes as it picks a new uniform. For the sake of mood, the quieter the environment around it the better, but that is not at all a requirement. It will do OK in any environment.
art lightIt produces no light, but is solar powered and must have a track light (to be supplied and/or installed by me at your request) immediately behind it on the wall. It also looks better if some type of spot light is aimed down at it's front face (this light is not required, but suggested).
art needsI have a pedestal for it. If the area is not very secure, I also have a glass vitrine to put it in on top of the pedestal. Because of the lighting requirement, House of Style must have some empty wall space behind its pedestal -- probably a minimum of 4 feet wide for a 3-foot track light.
art safetyNo.
