Today's home page was created by Jonathan Bachrach (jackbackrack), a research scientist in MIT's Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL). Jonathan has been engaged in the making of new media-based artwork for more than twenty years. His website is http://www.jbot.org (send email to Jonathan Bachrach) The image is based on Jonathan's electronic sculpture Protochoice (2005) a modular lighting prototype which computes a lifetime of chance decisions. It is comprised of 26 1x16" printed circuit boards with two hot pluggable USB connections on each end providing both structural and electrical glue. A collection of protochoice boards permit the construction of a wide range of wireframe sculptures.
Please contact us if you are interested in designing an image for the top page or requesting a spotlight. The MIT website was designed by Pentagram in partnership with the MIT Home Page Team. MIT homepage variations are © Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
