art description | I would like to spread the love of 1-bit musical waveforms. They
were first introduced to us in the late 1970's inside the Atari 2600,
but our initial ambassadors could only produce 8 distinct ones with
poor pitch control. Now, with this research, we can adore their
stunning variety, in good-sounding musical scales. |
art proposal | I will set up an electro-acoustic device that lets people generate
a wide variety of 1-bit waveforms. It has big, comfy knobs for control
and an oscilloscope so people can see and analyze them while listening.
It will have a groovy sequencer, too. |
art placard | We all have fallen under the spell of 1-bit waveforms. With some increases
in music technology, we have forgotten about them briefly. However, the
memories rest in our hearts...along with a desire to hear their many variations
which no one else has explored. |
