art proposal”Industrial Tree” is a window installation that continues my investigation on the use of modern technology, construction, and hybridization of different forms. ”Industrial Tree” is a large panel that fits behind the window on Bromfield Street. It is comprised of a large number of “Muffin Fans” of various sizes that are all interconnected to a multi-cam rotary switch. The fans are black, the panel is white, and the wires that connect everything together are green. As the switch rotates, different fans spin on and off until all are spinning. Visually, the switch is the “root” of the piece where all the wires, or capillaries emanate from. The fans can be considered to be leaves. As one views the panel through the window from the street, they will witness the piece transform from a completely static to complete dynamic object. As the city of Boston goes through massive construction and re-development, “Industrial Tree” is an homage to it’s changes; it is a study of nature, development and transformation
