This was the door of the chapter house of St. Patrick's Cathedral back in 1492, when Gerald Fitzgerald and his army fought a battle against royalist forces. Fitzgerald finally decided to call for a truce, but the royalist leader -- who had retreated to the chapter house -- didn't trust him until he cut a hole in the door and stuck his arm through to shake hands.
