Tania pulls out her prayer rug when it’s time for ‘Asr. Prayer rugs have no particular religious significance. They merely provide a clean surface on which people can pray. Tania points her yellow rug northeast, towards Mecca, the holiest Muslim city in the world. All Muslims face Mecca when they pray five times a day.
