Two ampersands, &&, and two vertical bars, ||, are used for
and and or because & and | are reserved for
operations on bits, rather than on integers. Neither & nor |
is discussed in this book, because understanding bit manipulation is not a
prerequisite to understanding either basic C++ programs or the special
strengths of the language.
