Now, whenever you enlarge or shrink the window, or bring it to the front of your display, Smalltalk transmits the following messages:

• The display message to the graph pane
• The callDrawMeter: message from the graph pane to the view manager
• The drawMeter message from the view manager back to the view pane

Thus, the view manager acts as a command center, receiving requests for attention, and issuing requests for action.
