For your program to be fully compliant with operating-system guidelines, you must designate a character in each menu title as the mnemonic. When you designate such a character, you can select the menu by pressing the corresponding key while holding the Alt key down. To designate a character as the mnemonic, you precede that character with the tilde character, as in the following, in which the O in Options is the mnemonic:
