Homework Grading Instructions:
- Meet with Shankha to discuss how to grade.
- Make sure to coordinate your grading with others that are
grading the same problem.
- Comments to the students are the most important part of the process.
Please fill them out on the grading template as well as on their
turned in homework.
- Ask Shankha for a grading template to fill in (this will include a row
for each student and columns for entries of scores, comments for me
and other information).
- Comments to me should include whether the homework was
late (and if so, what date it was turned in) and which types of
issues there were with the solution.
- Assigning scores:
Basically correct and nicely
written gets a grade of 2. (grade of 2 is like an A)
Confusingly written or mostly
wrong solutions should get 1.
Only give it a 0 if the solution is not turned in.
A grade of 3 (think A+) should only be given
sparingly to solutions that are far
better than the rest, either because there is a very clever idea or
a particularly nice writeup (not just a good writeup).
Decimals are allowed, but not required.
- Prepare a solution in latex format. If there are
alternate solutions, sketch the ideas for those too.
- When you are done, please meet with Shankha
to go over the homeworks and the solution.
-
Make sure to write the grades/comments on the papers turned in
before returning them.
- Due date: Everything is due within one week.
- Note that part of your grade in the course depends on the
quality of your grading, solution writeup and promptness.
