11 months, 4 weeks, 2 days Cale had a blast at his first birthday party this weekend. He ate about two pieces of cake and loved popping the Bubble Man's (url) beautiful birthday bubbles. Lately Cale's been a regular escape artist, crawling out of bed without his caregiver's notice when he's done sleeping, and once even making it downstairs while everyone else thought he was asleep!

10 months, 2 weeks Cale walked across the hotel room during last week's family vacation to Victoria and Vancouver, and has steadily been getting more and more steady on his chubby little legs. He's also starting to communicate well, saying "Mama" or "Dada" to the appropriate parent, signing "milk" and "more", and screaming like crazy when he doesn't get his way.

10 months The boys have begun on table food in earnest. Cale is thrilled, because it means he can move on from eating lint off the floor. Mom and Dad are thrilled, too, because it means meal times are easier.

9 months, 3 weeks Watch out world! Cale took a few very wobbly steps before falling. He's cruising all over the place and is clearly very close to walking. He also enjoys: clapping, eating fuzz, patty cake, and screaming when his brother Dillon takes his toys.

9 months, 2 weeks Cale just returned from visiting the town he was born, where he watched his mama receive her doctorate and played at Griff's old favorite playground.

8 months, 2 weeks, 6 days Cale gets his first haircut and is now rocking a lovely faux hawk.

8 months, 1 week, 1 day This has been a busy time for Cale. He was just in the Bay Area, visiting with grandparents and great-grandparents, and is heading to Banff next week. He now has six teeth.

6 months, 2 weeks, 1 day Cale loves that music. He dances all day long by bouncing his booty. Add Dillon shaking his head like crazy, and the two of them are a little dance party.

6 months, 1 week, 4 days Cale is really crawling now! And immediately on to trying to walk. He pulls up on everything.

5 months, 1 week, 1 day Mama, Sheila, Cale, and Dillon just returned from a trip to Fraser, CO. Cale and Dillon spent their days with Sheila in the lodge by a warm fire hiding out from the freezing winds outside while Mama attended a conference.

4 months, 3 weeks Both twins are starting to notice each other, and toys too. Griffin is the sweetest big brother in the world. He genuinely delights in them when they laugh, and soothes them when they fuss. Mama and Dada have several times walked in to see Griff rocking Cale and singing him a song.

4 months, 1 week, 6 days A surprise snowstorm shut down Seattle. Cale went with Sheila to pick Griff up at daycare, and the three of them got stuck there! Super-Dad came to their rescue, picking them up and walking home three miles through the snow with a toddler and a baby. Dillon and Mama stayed warm at home and cooked hot soup for the boys on their return.
