Lords of Discipline by Pat Conroy

"Pat Conroy is my all-time favorite author, and I especially enjoyed this book which is a little bit mystery, a little bit love story, and a great story about friendship.

Here is the official summary: In this powerful, mesmerizing, and highly acclaimed bestseller, PAT CONROY sweeps us into the turbulent world of four young men.friends, cadets, and blood brothers.and their days of hazing, heartbreak, pride, betrayal, and, ultimately, humanity.
We go deeply into the heart of the novel's hero, Will McLean, a rebellious outsider with his own personal code of honor, who is battling into manhood the hard way. Immersed in a poignant love affair with a haunting beauty, Will must boldly confront the terrifying injustice of a corrupt institution as he struggles to expose a mysterious group known as "The Ten."

It is a thick book, but a pretty quick read. It will be Christine's last night in Boston, so come say a sad farewell to her!"

Host: Erika Hatch
Date: August 19, 2004
Food Theme: Southern cooking

Location:
462 East 6th St. #1

By Car: Take 93S to exit number 20 towards the Pike. The exit will split. Take the split to the left towards Albany St.. (Don't get on the Pike!). At the second light after the exit, take a left. (The street doesn't have a name, but there is a sign that says "South Boston/Broadway Bridge). Continue straight over the bridge, you will now be on West Broadway. Continue straight for about 2 miles. The street will split-stay to the left to go onto E. Broadway. Take the second right after the split onto H street. (There is a store 24 on the corner). Go down 3 blocks to E. 6th. St. and take a right. I am on the right hand side of the street. Parking is no-permit required, so park anywhere...
You can also take Mass Ave. into South Boston pretty easily, but I would do MapQuest 'cause I don't know that way very well.
By T: Take the redline to Broadway Station. Exit the station and catch the #9 bus directly in front of the station. It comes pretty frequently. The bus runs down Broadway. Exit at the store 24 and follow the directions above.
