The Dive From Clausen's Pier by Ann Packer

" I recently read this book because it was recommended by my best friend from New York. I was very excited to read it, and it started slower than I expected, but it ended powerfully, raising many pertinent questions. Most importantly it asks us what responsibility do we have to those we love. I thought this book was also particularly pertinent since the main character is a girl named Carrie whose best friends are Jamie and Christine. Carrie is from Madison, Wisconsin and runs away to New York city when her boyfriend (with whom her relationship was cracking) became paralyzed."
