Bodhi's goes to his forever home in Cleveland... Now we are six.
Aug 21 Day 71
Wednesday: the boys are ten weeks old today and so begins week 11. We did a second worming today and continued to work their ears with Polysporin, pushing the tips of the ears up and forward to minimize the curl during healing. The tip will curl naturally in most cases but working the tips with the Polysporin minimizes the curl.
Aug 22 Day 72
Thursday: today is Bodhi's (green) last day with us and with his mum so we gave Bodhi and Jazz some private time together in the yard away from the other boys both in the morning and the afternoon and we took some pictures of the two of them together. Then for some real fun I got some of those kiddie "bubbles in a bottle" that you blow in the air. The puppies had a blast chasing them, pouncing on the ones that landed on the ground and watching others float up to the sky. A great way to get a dog accustomed to looking up. So we'll give Bodhi our last hugs tonight and in the morning we head off to Vancouver via ferry where Bodhi will depart for Toronto and be met by his new mom, Nancy, for the final leg of his trip home to Cleveland.
It's almost lunch time and the boys are *hungry*!

But first, we play a little game with treats on the table. Unable to reach the treats from the top of the table, Gandhi contemplates squeezing through the hole from underneath.

Aug 23 Day 73
Friday: today was Bodhi's big day. Bodhi had an early breakfast and then we caught the 9 a.m. ferry to Vancouver. He cried for a few minutes when he first got in the crate, probably because he was in there by himself. But he soon attached himself to his new teddy, they quickly became best friends, and then he fell asleep for the rest of the ride. When we got on the ferry I took him out of his crate to walk around awhile and he met lots of new people. He had no problem with the big hulking boat crew but the kids gave him a bit of a scare even though they were quiet and very gentle with him. When we arrived at Air Canada Cargo-Vancouver he was a real pro - like he'd been around planes all his life, and he took all the strange and very loud noises in stride. He also got to try out his leash for the first time and with a little coaxing he followed me around for quite a while. I stayed with him until the very last minute and they gave me an extra half hour with him before he was loaded. And after confirming that he was listed on the pilot's duty log I left for home and got back at 5:30. Still two more hours until Bodhi arrived in Toronto. So I waited patiently and eventually tracked his arrival and delivery on the web, and shortly thereafter Nancy called to say he was safely in her hands - but not before he took what Nancy said was the longest pee of his life!!!
Finally the food arrives!

Aug 24 Day 74
Saturday: Spoke with Nancy briefly this morning and she said all was well and they had a good first night at the hotel. I had attached a little Canadian flag to the front of Bodhi's cap and evidently everybody at the hotel thought he'd been in some kind of competition!!! We took out the base stitches on a couple of the boys - who all missed Bodhi, until it came to meal time when they were more than happy to polish off his portion of dinner. Late in the evening Bodhi emailed me to tell me about his new digs and a special big red cushion in front of the fireplace which he has adopted as his own. And even later last night - right after last potty call, I caught that cute little White guy chomping away on Yellow's left ear. Somehow he'd even managed to detach it from his cap. A little Skin Bond to the rescue and everything was fine and we'll replace Yellow's cap tomorrow.

Aug 25 Day 75
Sunday: today we removed the base stitches from the last four dogs and Gandhi and Yellow got brand new caps. The boys were much more settled today - perhaps having made the adjustment to the new pack order, now minus Bodhi who is thoroughly enjoying his new digs in Cleveland. And we decided that since Bodhi managed to hold his potty for the flight from Vancouver to Toronto, it was about time the rest of his brothers did the same, so we did our usual mass cleanup in the nursery, removed all the newspapers, and put two to a crate for the night. We gave them a practice run after dinner for an hour. But after the 10 p.m. potty call, they were crated for the night. And all was fine until Jazz decided she wanted to potty at 2 a.m. and of course, the boys had to follow. But I expected that the first night.
The-Cute-Little-White Guy will soon be heading off to his forever home in New Hampshire.
Aug 26 Day 76
Monday: What a pleasure to wake up to a potty call instead of a potty mess this morning. Well, at least it was a pleasure for Scott who let me sleep in this morning. Again! Mantis (light blue) and Mr. Valentine got their new caps today. The boys' ears are almost totally healed now and from here on the posting will be much easier. The boys were a bit crazed tonight after dinner with their new pigs' hooves that I got them. That smell is something else! But they loved them. And now they've settled for the night in their crates.

Aug 27 Day 77
Tuesday: A pretty routine day today. The weather is hot and the boys spent the best part of the day playing in the back yard and when they get too hot they come in to cool down in the breeze of the fan. Everybody had their nails clipped today. Gandhi and the Nave thought I was surely trying to mame them. The rest of the boys cooperated for the most part. Yesterday was Yellow's turn to be Bully-of-the-Day but today he passed the mantle on to Mr. Valentine who went from one brother to the next, picking a fight with each one to show how fierce he is.
