Now that we're back on standard time, I don't feel so lazy any more. Sleeping in until the sun rises gets me up at six instead of seven. It's just as well; it was getting pretty hard to make it to those 10AM New York time meetings.
It frosted again last night, and the guineas were back in the barn. Maybe they have the sense to go in when it gets cold? Hard to believe that of those birds.
Adam had a bit of terribly fussy time this morning, which only chewing on something (finger or teething ring) seemed to help. I don't see any teeth yet, but it is possible that he's starting to feel them. We'll see.
I spent much of the day preparing for the expert testimony I'll be giving later this week. This included reading a bunch of mind-numbing documents and getting reacquainted with some obsolete software. This was actually sort of nostalgic (the software part, not the documents part).
This afternoon I was so worn out that Adam and I took a nap together. Maybe it was just our hour of getting back on the same schedule as the clock. While we slept, Dana went out and fed all the animals, which was a nice break for me.
Adam
continues to improve at dealing with the world while on his tummy. Faced with an
array of toys in front, he will variously grab them, chew on them, rest his head
on them, and (his best trick) pull on them until they are behind him. The latter
is generally accompanied with a puzzled "where'd it go?" expression.
I baked a couple more loaves of excellent sourdough bread tonight. I seem to finally be getting the texture down right. The sourdough is turning out well enough that I'm going to retire the desem starter that I'd been using for the past year. We don't eat enough bread to keep two starters in regular use, and we both like the sourdough better. Which, I suppose, is a recommendation for Sourdoughs International, where we bought this starter (I'm using the Austrian starter).
For dinner, stir-fry with rice and a skewer of grilled shrimp. Afterwards, more cribbage, some email, some fussing with the wallpaper on my working system, and then to bed.
