THE INSIDER
News and gossip from the Diva

Didn't summer just start a few weeks ago? Where'd it go? Not only is it starting to get a little chilly around here, but geez -- it's September already! Next thing you know, it's going to be Thanksgiving, and then we're going to be buried in snow, and ...

Even though the summer months are waning, there's one exciting thing about this time of the year -- school starts! Kids everywhere, and adults like myself, are heading back to school this week and next. New sneakers, new books, brown bag lunches, and the like are back in style. This year is a big one for me. More on that in two weeks, when I write my final goodbye Insider. (Save the tears for then!)

On a final note, we wanted to send a little precautionary note out to our members. This weekend and on Sept. 6th, brave Sys. Admin. Ed Schwab is heading down to Jersey City to pick up some of our servers and bring 'em home. Because of the travel lag time, a small outage may result. The main Tripod site should be fine, but some member pages may be unreachable for a few hours. The move is happening in the wee hours of the morning, so if you sleep in this weekend, you shouldn't notice a thing!

MEMBERSHIP QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Get the inside dirt on some of the questions most frequently fielded by our dedicated membership department!

Q: Should I keep backups of my files?
A: Absolutely! Losing your work is both discouraging and, unfortunately, quite easy to do. If you keep backups of all of your files on your home computer, you'll never have to worry about losing a file or making an edit that destroys hours or days of hard work. If you know how to use an FTP client, then by all means use it after each major edit of your site. Store recent copies of your files where you're sure they won't be lost or damaged.

Tripod members now can receive a FREE 25 MB account at Driveway.com. This means that you can backup your files online, and not take up precious hard drive space. Or, it means that you can be extra special and back up your site in two places! Sign up now for your Driveway account!
