P H O T O
M O N D A Y
Every Monday the Sapphire Sweeties share a photograph as a way of sharing
their pregnancy experience. Every Photo Monday has a theme. The
themes are announced on the thread the proceeding Friday to give everyone
time to take or find an appropriate photograph. Previous themes and upcoming
themes can be found here.
HOW TO
SHARE A
PHOTOGRAPH
There are two ways to share a photograph. If you know how to make photographs
publicly accessible via the Web, follow Instructions 1. If you don't, follow
Instructions 2. In either case, you will need to click the "HTML" button
(next to the "Design" button) before you type the following. You can switch back to "Design" once you're done.
- Make the photograph accessible via the web. You should know the photograph's
URL (e.g., http://xxx.com/photo.jpg). Type the following
code into your post, replacing the pretend photo URL with your real photo URL:
<img src=http://xxx.com/photo.jpg>
- If you haven't already, create an account for yourself on Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com). Follow their
instructions to upload a picture. Copy and paste into your post the information given beside
the Tag line under the picture. If you do not see a tag line after you upload
the picture, go to Account Options and click "Yes" besides the Tag option.
HOW TO
RE-
SIZE A
PHOTOGRAPH
Photographs that are too small or too large are hard to see. A good target
photograph width is 400 pixels, or 2-1/4 inches.
You can re-size a photograph by (1) changing the photograph's actual size to an
appropriate width, or (2) controling the display width.
- To change the photograph's actual size, follow the instructions
for your favorite photo-editing program, or take advantage of the
re-sizing feature offered by your photo-hosting site (e.g.,
Photobucket allows you to resize photographs).
- To change the display width, you need to add a bit of text to the
code you post. Find the portion that begins with "<img src=", and
add the text " width=400" after it says ".jpg".

REASONS TO
NOT
SHARE A
PHOTOGRAPH
Some people do not feel comfortable sharing photographs on the Web for a variety of
reasons. The primary reason is probably a discomfort with making personally identifiable
information publicly available online. Please make sure that you feel comfortable sharing your
photograph before you post it. It is generally a good idea to obscure full names, addresses,
telephone numbers, and the likes that can sometimes appear on pictures of ultrasounds,
announcements and invitations.
