Hi neighbors, Tomorrow (Tuesday) the planet Venus will cross the sun's disk. Such "transit" events are rare and amazing to watch -- you can actually see an astronomical body moving through space in real time. Venus will first encounter the limb of the sun starting at around 6pm on the east coast, and will take about six hours to move fully across the sun. The forecast is for poor weather here, and anyway for us the sun will set during the transit, but we can watch the whole thing online at http://sunearthday.nasa.gov/2012/transit/webcast.php or http://sunearthday.nasa.gov/webcasts/nasaedge There won't be another Venus transit until 2117, so you might want to catch this one...
