Birth - 7-21-1944

Family-- last of 8 , 2 girls, 1 boy, 4 girls , 1 boy-- Both boys same birthday 20 years apart

Kindergarden -- David A. Ellis - Roxbury -- Mrs. McMannis -- churned butter!

Boston Latin School-- sixie and fivsie -- no science offered in1957 -sputnick -- go for science

Boston Technical HS -- 2 1/2 years of physics, 2 years of chemistry, 1 year Biology and lots of math

Edna - met at 14, married at 22, 3 children (Lisa,Caty, and Jon) --a life of love and adventure --40 years married and counting

Boston College-- Elite physics program, 35 admitted, 11 graduated,

Marriage -- do it once and do it right

Lisa  -- my child while I was a student. She helped me reinforce a sense of wonder that has lasted me alifetime

U of Mass. One year -- NASA fellowship. Advisor wanted we to join him in a move to Ohio

U of Toledo-- NASA fellowship. MSC support. Discovered I was a theoretician not an experimentalist. Everyone knew this bit me!  

Caty -- The child who was born in motion and has nver stopped. We were scheduled to drive to NASA -houston, and  Caty did not agree to be born early. She arrived 2 weeks late, and to keep our schedule we through her in a car and drove her to texas.

Jonathan  -  My son. More me than i might have wished. He did it his way as i did it mine. If only he had been reasonable and lived the life I designedfor him, instead of doing as I did and living his own. He has always brought me great high and low moments.

MSC Houston -- To be a child of sputnick and to live at NASA in 1970. You can not make up adventures like this. You must actually live them.

Director of Admin Computing- Theoretical physics was not a good way to support a family in 1970. Understanding systems design and computers produced more money as required. My staff of 30 ran the Admion systems for the 15,000 student unviersity. I continued part-time on the writing of the thesis. Took off for 6 months in 1973 and finished it. The work was published in some tables of NBS.

Asst prof of Elect Engg. - in 1974 I received a dual appointment as  the director of academic computing and an Asst Prof of Electrical Engg.

Univ of Pet. & Min. Dhahran. - In 1975 I was given a one-year leave of abscence to teach in Saudi Arabia . Returned to the US 11 years later. Lots of adventures. lots of academic successes.

Stanford - Sabbatical leave from UPM to Pat Suppes lab IMSSS. ported a logic teaching program to Saudia arabia. My specialty at that time was using Computers for Instruction.

Launch at Kennedy -- In 1984 , I was invited by my clolleagues in Arabia to join them as a guest of their government for thr launch at Cape Kennedy that acrried a prince of the Saudi Family as a guest scientist.

IBM -- Summer of 1985 was avisting fellow at IBM-Cambridge. Did some work with Prolog.

MIT-- Joined MIT in march 1987. 20 years of exciting projects, The Web, The supercomputer, the world of 4 generations of machines all still in use, two world wide events organized and executed. Some courses taught , some students advised 

NSF-- Oct 2000 to Oct 2003, I was an IPA at NSF . My appointment was as Senior program Director
